A movie & a book about the Camino

At 30, I left my corporate job behind and set out to walk 2,000 km across France and Spain — a journey that changed everything. It led me to create a documentary and write a book.

The film Paths of Life is available to watch online — whenever you need to reconnect, reflect, or simply breathe — with lifetime access.

The movie Paths of life, Walking towards the Essential

affiche du film paths of life

Paths of Life : a film about walking the Camino, reconnecting with yourself, and listening to what truly matters.

SYNOPSIS : Just before reaching her thirties, Pauline leaves her stressful Parisian life and decides to walk alone from Alsace in the direction of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

During her 4-month walk through France and Spain – about 2000 km by foot – she meets numerous other pilgrims and asks them why they are walking and what the Camino brings them.
Whether it be a need to “reconnect oneself” in a world that goes too fast, a desire for challenge and new encounters, or a spiritual quest, every path is unique.

This movie talks about a generation of pilgrims, ready to question their habits and to open to the unknown and the magic of life.

As an independent filmmaker, I self-financed this film. Your purchase helps me cover some of the costs of creating the film and sharing it with the world. I deeply appreciate your support.

Walking Toward My Essential — a journey that began with a film

A whisper …

Walking toward my essential, and making a movie.
I hear that whisper as I walk…
A film to give voice to those who walk, and to reveal the magic of the Path.
Not my path, but the Path.
The Path of Life.
The path that so many of us walk, every single day.

Giving a voice to the pilgrims

A movie to shed light on these pilgrims who are searching for something more—ready to be transformed by the path, sometimes willing to let go of a seemingly comfortable life that no longer fully
resonates with them, in order to move toward a deeper, more internal, less material kind of comfort
I have some basic video editing skills.

But I’m well aware that making a film requires content, gear, and know-how: footage of me walking, landscapes, a better camera, a microphone. I thought—it might be a bit of a challenge.

And why not?

Despite my doubts, I let this idea travel within me. I give it space.

Step by step, my mind slowly shifts from saying, “It’s impossible,” to asking, “Why not?”

After I return, I create the first version of the film on my own, teaching myself as I go. Later, I decide to take it further and surround myself with professionals — a sound engineer, a colorist, and an editor — to bring more depth and polish to the final version.
I begin a screening tour, sharing the film in cinemas, libraries, restaurants,
travel festivals, and other places.
The film has been seen by over 10,000 people, and I’ve received hundreds of heartfelt messages from viewers telling me how deeply it resonated with their own lives. It was even selected for Amazon Prime.

An english film !

The overwhelming enthusiasm from those who watched the French version inspired me to create an English version and offer online screenings — so the message could reach even further. And now, I’m touched to see that this English version is speaking just as deeply to the hearts of the English-speaking audience.

« Walking toward my essential » has become the mantra that has accompanied each of my steps since…

« Walking Toward Your Essential » The Book !

A Travel Journal

The book Walking toward your Essential is a travel journal in which I share my inner journey with you: how I face exhaustion, solitude, the constant stream of anxiety about the future, and the deep questions around the meaning of this walk—but also how I gradually find my way back to my heart and my joy.

Someone asked me if the book was just a repeat of the film Paths of Life. The answer is no.
Although both take place during my walk on the Camino de Santiago, the film and the book are two very different experiences.
The movie is a documentary in which I interview pilgrims I meet along the way, asking them why they walk and what the Camino brings to their lives.
You also see me as a pilgrim. At times, I share my thoughts and emotions in front of the camera.
But my own inner journey remains mostly in the background, as I wanted to give space to all these fellow pilgrims and their voices.

Filled with Stories and Intimacy!

In the book, you’ll find plenty of anecdotes—some funny, some deeply moving—that I didn’t include in the film.

There are many people I met along the way who appear in the book but not in the film, simply because I didn’t have my camera with me at the time.
You’ll recognize some of the pilgrims from the film in the book, but not all of them, as I returned to the Camino with my camera in 2020, while the book focuses solely on my first journey, which lasted four months.

To conclude, the book dives more deeply into the intimate experience of what’s happening within me.
Step by step, I share with you the lessons the Camino has offered—lessons that can be applied to everyday life.

If you enjoyed the film, there’s a good chance you’ll love the book too—and vice versa.

Excerpt from the Book:

« I already had enough on my mind with my questions about where to go and what to do with my life. So, walking along a well-marked path from point A to point B suited me perfectly. This structure would undoubtedly allow me to relax enough to let the magic happen between the departure and the arrival. Also, I said to myself that the movement of my body would certainly be accompanied by a movement of my mind, and would provide answers to my questions: Who am I? What am I supposed to do? What is the meaning of life? How can I be happy in this world? A vast program!»
